Commentator Peter Drury reveals he cried after Messi World Cup win

Renowned commentator, Peter Drury has revealed he cried after Lionel Messi won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina.

Argentina went into the World Cup in Qatar as heavyweights but weren’t readily tagged as favourites. Having lost the 2014 World Cup final to Germany and getting eliminated by France in the Round of 16 of the 2018 World Cup, it was unsure how the Argentine team would perform in Qatar.

It however took what passes to be the most historical and memorable football game for Messi’s Argentina to be crowned Champions of the World.

A lot of reactions has trailed since Messi won the World Cup with many tagging it the “win for football.”

English commentator, Peter Drury has revealed he cried when Argentina and Lionel Messi won the World Cup after the unbelievably dramatic final.

France however bowed to Argentina in the penalty shootout. After a twist of emotions, Peter Drury revealed he couldn’t hold back tears, crying in excitement.

Messi World Cup performance

Lionel Messi put up what passes to be one of the best individual performances at a World Cup. Scoring, assisting and creating chances.

According to FIFA, he became the first player in his to score in the group stage, round of sixteen, quarter finals, semi finals and final of a single World Cup event.

He also earned 5 man of the match awards and was the second highest scorer of the tournament. Messi also jointly provided the most assist and chances created in the seven games competition. His World Cup performance won him his record eight Ballon d’OR.
