Dani Alves released from prison on bail set at €1 million pending final sentence.

Dani Alves has been released from prison on bail set at €1 million pending a final sentence. The Barcelona court decided to agree to Dani Alves’ request after proving he has roots in Barcelona. He testified before the high court in the presence of his lawyer, Inés Guardiola, via video conferencing.

He said in the meeting:

I believe in justice.,I’m not going to run away and I will be at the disposal of the court until the end“.

Dani Alves released from prison on bail

Now, Dani Alves has paid the stipulated bail money and has been released on temporary basis. However, his passport has been confiscated according to reports. The former Brazil international is mandated to appear in court every week until a final sentence is passed.

Dani Alves was arrested in January of 2023 for sexually assaulting a woman at a night club in New Year’s Eve, 2022.

The former Barcelona star was accused of raping a 23 year old after luring her to the bathroom of a night club in Barcelona.

Alves initially was held in pre-trial detention pending the decision of the jury who convicted Alves of rape on February 22. The Barcelona court sentenced him to 4 years and 6 months in prison.

Rumors of suicide

Rumors circulated earlier this month that Dani Alves committed suicide in prison.

News of Alves’ reported suicide broke on X and quickly generated a lot of engagement. Others have moved to counter the information, saying that the news originated from an online troll posing as a journalist.
