Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz says Harry Maguire is a tougher opponent than Virgil Van Dijk.

The striker enjoyed a brilliant spell at the start of 2024 where he kept banging in goals for Fulham in the Premier League.

The 23 year-old finished the season with 9 goals in the League, 10 in total in his first season in the English top flight.

He also became the third Fulham player to win Premier League player of the month, and just the fifth Brazilian. He claimed the award in March after a scorching scoring run for Fulham.

Harry Maguire is a tougher opponent than Virgil van Dijk

The striker spoke to TNT sports in Brazil about the toughest defenders he has come up against in the Premier League.

He went on to draw comparisons between the maligned English defender and the imperious Dutchman. Speaking in an interview as per TBRfootball, he said:

“Maguire bothered me more when marking me than Van Dijk.”

“He guarantees himself a race, I understand and against Manchester United I think it was a more difficult. Maguire is always on your body and giving you a pat like that. You’re pushing and it makes you feel like you’re not concentrating on the game.”

The Manchester United defender has enjoyed a renaissance of some sort this season, although many would say it’s down to key injuries. However, It doesn’t subtract from the fact that he has managed to do a job whenever he has played.

One of Gareth Southgate’s trusted deputies , Southgate named him in his preliminary squad for the Euros. He will hope to play a key role in helping England’s talented squad land a major trophy.
