How much Man Utd have to pay to fire Ten Haag and where it ranks among the biggest severance pay at the club

Ten Haag is currently in the middle of a three year contract at Manchester United and earns about £187,500 per week at the club. But How much would it take to fire Ten Haag?. Where would it rank among the biggest severance pay at Manchester United?

The Dutchman seems to be sitting on the hottest managerial seat in the EPL at the moment. With every bad result, Manchester United fans call for an end to his time at the club.

Despite speaking publicly of having the backing he has from new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, rumors about a possible dismissal continues to swirl.

It has been reported that a severance package of around £15million may be the cost to relieve the former Ajax boss as well as his staff of their duties.

So, where does this rank among the biggest severance pay at Manchester United?:

5. Louis Van Gaal (4.5m)

Van Gaal was the second manager brought in to replace Sir Alex Ferguson, after David Moyes’ sacking. He had the third best win ratio of any permanent Manchester United manager when he was fired.

Despite managing to win the FA cup in his time at the club, his style of play and results left a lot to be desired. This ultimately led to his dismissal.

4. Moyes(4.5m)

David Moyes was sacked ten months into his Manchester United contract which was supposed to last for six years. He came in as replacement for legendary manager Alex Ferguson but ultimately failed to handle the expectations at the club.

The Scot has since gone on to complain about the manner of his sacking with many believing he wasn’t given enough time.

3. Solskjaer (7.5m)

The biggest severance pay at Manchester United

Solskjaer was appointed as successor to Jose Mourinho in 2019 until the end of the season. He earned a permanent contract after his first few results and enjoyed an average season in his first full season.

A dismal run of results in his second full season terminated at Vicarage road following a 4-1 loss to Watford.

The Former Manchester United fan favorite was succeeded by another Man Utd legend Michael Carrick on an interim basis.

2. Erik Ten Haag (15m)?

The biggest severance pay at Manchester United?

After an okay first season at the club, Ten Haag has not managed to deliver that early promise. The football and results have dropped considerably and every match day has become a race to either save or lose his job.

He is on course to lead them until the end of the campaign but it remains to be seen if he will be at the helm come next season. It appears like Manchester United is too big for Ten Hag to handle and now a  former Inter and PSG player has already been linked as shock candidate to replace Erik ten Hag.

1. Jose Mourinho (19.6m)

The biggest severance pay at Manchester United

Jose Mourinho replaced Louis Van Gaal and won the Europa league, league cup and community shield in his first season. He built on the results of the first season and finished second in the league behind Guardiola’s City.

It wasn’t to be in his third season though, which is a tradition for Mourinho teams, as results started to suffer. He was sacked following a 3-1 loss to Liverpool.
