Antonio Cassano, a former Italy international, has slammed Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, who has recently been linked with a move to Barcelona. Last season, the Belgium international made a stunning return to Stamford Bridge. Thomas Tuchel’s team paid £98.5 million for the centre-forward from Inter Milan in the hopes of resolving their goal-scoring woes.
The move, however, has not gone as planned for both the team and the player thus far. Lukaku has only scored 12 goals in 40 games this season across all competitions, failing to match his Inter Milan brilliance. Lukaku is being linked with a stunning move to Barcelona, despite his dismal form. According to Spanish sports daily MARCA, the 28-year-old is a summer transfer window option for the La Liga giants.
Cassano, on the other hand, is opposed to Lukaku playing for Barcelona. If the Blaugrana sign the former Inter Milan striker, the former Italy international has stated that he will quit watching them. [via The Metro] He told Bobo TV:
Xavi, Barcelona’s manager, is rumored to be looking for a new striker ahead of the 2022-23 season.
