The mother of Liverpool soccer player Luis Diaz was freed on Saturday after being abducted in northern Colombia, according to Colombian President Gustavo Petro, but authorities were still looking for his father, who is still in the custody of his abductors.
Barrancas is a municipality in the northern La Guajira region of Colombia. The Colombian attorney general’s office had earlier announced that it had put together a team of detectives to look for the Luis Diaz father.
Cilenis Marulanda, the mother of Diaz, was rescued, according to the National Police, who also stated that she had a conversation with Director William Rene Salamanca.
