Manchester City transfer target pens new deal at Club; Dashes Pep’s hope for ideal Kyle Walker replacement

 

Manchester City have been dealt a huge blow in their hopes to sign a replacement for Kyle Walker. Ben White, a Manchester City transfer target has committed his future to Arsenal by signing a new four year deal.

What happened?

The right back’s contract was due to be up in 2026 after signing for the club three years ago. Following strong consistent performances, Arsenal have moved to secure his future.

The Manchester City transfer target signing a new deal all but puts him out of their reach. White was subject to interest from City following his performances at center back and midfield for Brighton, and at right back for Arsenal. They wanted to sign him before he moved to Arsenal from Brighton in 2021, and also registered interest in the player last year.

Upon signing his contract, the Englishman said: “I’m so happy – it’s been a long journey, and amazing to sign again and be here for more years. I’ve said before I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else, so it’s perfect”.

 

The contract has been on the table for some time pending a club statement. Arsenal have now released a statement announcing the deal. Sporting director Edu said of the deal that:

“We are so happy to have completed a new long-term contract with Ben. Since Ben joined us, his contribution and commitment have been of such high quality. Our supporters love him, we love him and we look forward to enjoying Ben’s performances with us for years to come.”

The deal comes as a huge blow to Manchester City who view the versatile player as a replacement for Kyle Walker.
