Find out what brings Pochettino back to Stamford Bridge after sudden departure from the club

Mauricio Pochettino will manage the Soccer Aid World XI FC against England at Stamford Bridge on June 9. This means the Argentine returns to a now old stomping ground just over two weeks after leaving by mutual consent.

David Ornstein, Mauricio Pochettino will be taking charge of the World XI FC for the second successive year. He pits his tactical wits against another former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.

Long-term staff Jesus Perez and Tony Jimenez will be on hand to assist the Argentine manager as usual. Other sports personalities scheduled to be involved are Jill Scott, Karen Carney, Jermain Defoe and David James. Some other football legends to feature are Gary Cahill, David Seaman, Roberto Carlos, Joe Cole and Jack Wilshere.

The event has successfully helped UNICEF raise nearly £100million so far. Pochettino will once again play a key role in the fundraising event which he has previously spoken highly of.

The Telegraph first announced Mauricio Pochettino has left his role as manager of Chelsea by mutual part agreement.

His sudden departure came as a surprise to many as he successfully turned the club’s on-pitch fortunes around.

He has not announced he will be once again involved in the soccer aid event after participating last year.

“Soccer Aid for UNICEF is a huge event — and one I am delighted to be part of again. The 2023 match was a great experience to be a part of and that is why I was more than happy to accept a return this year, particularly as it will be at Stamford Bridge and with Frank Lampard, a Chelsea legend, in the opposing dugout for England.”

Mauricio Pochettino will manage the Soccer Aid World XI FC on his return to Stamford Bridge just over two weeks after departing.
