Pep Guardiola responds to Marcelo Bielsa critics with self comparison
Manchester City head coach, Pep Guardiola has responded to criticism targeted at former Leeds United manager, Marcelo Bielsa after the Spaniard was sacked by the English club.
Marcelo Bielsa had a good first season in the Premier League after gaining promotion with Leeds United from Championship.
The 2021/2022 season came different for Bielsa as his team began to produce poor results week in week out. It took no time for him to be dropped by Leeds United.
Huge criticism followed after he was shown the exit door from Leeds, a situation that didn’t sit well with fellow Spanish national, Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola, using team quality said, if Marcelo Bielsa had the type of players he had at Barcelona, he would win numerous trophies and if he (Guardiola) is to manage the Leeds team, they’ll be in the Championship.
“Give him my Barcelona and you will see how he will win titles. Give me Leeds, with all due respect to the Leeds players, but I would still be in the Championship.”
Guardiola set a new Champions League record after defeating Atletico Madrid in the quarter finals of UEFA Champions League. He became the first manager is history to reach the Champions League Semi-final for a record 9 times.
