Rafa Benitez to quit Everton job

Everton boss, Rafa Benitez has agreed mutually with the club to quit his job as head coach, AllSoccer can confirm.

Everton has been in a run of poor form and after the 2 – 1 defeat by Norwich of Saturday, Benitez knew his time at the club was up.

Benitez has had 9 defeats in his last 13 Premier League games and the heat rising from the dressing room has not been good. Fans tried to blocked the Spaniard at Carrow Road and are beginning to raise banners with ill writing targeted towards the coach.

The actual day for his quitting is not yet known but decision to forfeit the job is mutual. Everton has approached club legend, Duncan Ferguson to take over as caretaker manager just as he did in 2019.

AllSoccer understands that Wayne Rooney is amongst one of the coaches likely to be given the job. The former Manchester United striker was a boyhood player for Everton, he also returned to the club after his time at Manchester.

Rafa Benitez had an interesting spell with Everton last season, he has also recorded successes with other Premier League teams he managed, like Liverpool and Chelsea.

He had dressing room issues with recently sold player, Lucas Digne who had to sign for Aston Villa after been  made to always be an unused substitute by Benitez.

Everton sits at 15th position on the Premier League table, few points above the relegation zone.
