Sam Kerr becomes Australian all-time leading highest goal scorer for both men and women
Chelsea women striker, Sam Kerr has become Australian all-time leading highest goal scorer.
Samantha Kerr achieved the feet after netting her 51st goal in the Australian National team jersey, beating Tim Cahill previous record of 50 goals.
Kerr had a superb 2021 for both club and country, finding the back of the net continuously. Kerr equalled Tim Cahill record after finding the back of the net in just nine minutes into the AFC Women Asian Cup match, against Indonesia. The fast striker dribble past two Indonesian defenders and and shot past Indonesian 17-year-old goal keeper.
Just two minutes after equaling the record, Kerr netted her second of the match to stand alone as the new record holder.
Sam Kerr finished third in the 2021 female Balon D’or, just behind two Barcelona players. She also made the female Balon D’or best eleven.
