Congratulations to Bayer! Thomas Tuchel has conceded defeat in the Bundesliga title race after going 13 points adrift of Bayer Leverkusen.

The defending champions lost 2-0 on the night to Borussia Dortmund while Bayer won versus Hoffenheim. Both results mean Bayer Leverkusen now hold a 13 point gap at the top of the table.

Tuchel’s men were 10 points adrift in second place coming into the game and needed results to go their way. It was not to be however as Bayer Leverkusen continued their unbeaten start to the season with their win.

Robert Andrich and Patrik Shick scored late in the game to turn the match on its head, handing Bayer Leverkusen another late win.

Bayer Leverkusen have now gone the entire season so far unbeaten under Xabi Alonso. They have been tested but they always find a way to salvage a draw or a last gasp win.

Bayern lose De Klassikier

Bayern needed to win to keep their slim title hopes alive but fell to an agonizing defeat.

They welcomed back Harry Kane to the side and would have hoped the Englishman would turn up with a similar performance to the reverse fixture. Instead he missed a big chance to pull them level, heading wide following an attack down the right hand side.

Karim Adeyemi and Julian Ryerson got the goals that sunk Bayern at home in the Allianz arena.

The German boss is set to step down from his position at the end of the season has already resigned to losing the title.

All is not done mathematically but in meek surrender, Tuchel conceded that “the title race is over“.

His Bayern side now have just the champion’s league to fight for and have Arsenal standing in their way in the next round.
