Barcelona defender, Samuel Umtiti has agreed to reduce his salary to enable the financial unstable club be able to register newly bought Ferran Torres.

Umtiti has been linked with numerous moves away from Camp Nou after his run of poor form and numerous injuries. The French defender has also faced treats of contract termination.

To get his contract renewed, Samuel Umtiti agreed a salary reduction. His new contact will see him stay in Spain till 2026.

Umtiti salary reduction made it able for Barcelona to register newly bought Ferran Torres. Barcelona signed Torres from Manchester City and has been unable to register the youngster even after loaning Coutinho to Aston Villa.

Barcelona has secured the signing of Man City winger Ferran Torres for €55m plus €10m add-ons. Ferran is expected to sign a 5-year deal with Barca. He has always been the priority signing for Xavi in the January transfer window.

The 21-year old Spanish footballer who plays as a winger, is capable of playing both on the left and right flank.

Barcelona side will pay an initial £46.7m (€55m) plus a further £8.5m (€10m) in add-ons. Manchester City will make a profit of at least £27m (€32m) on a player they paid Valencia around £20m (€23m) for in 2020.

They have not paid any of the agreed add-ons to Valencia due to the limited time he has spent at the Etihad.

Barcelona regard Torres as one of Spain’s rising talents and have money to spend in January after recently receiving sizeable investment via a bank loan.
