You won’t play the world cup if you join Manchester United – Van Gaal tells Jurrien Timber

Manchester United ex coach, Louis Van Gaal has asked his national, Jurrien Timber not to join Manchester United or risk his chance of going to Qatar for the World Cup.

Jurrien Timber has reportedly rejected a move to Manchester United, despite efforts by his former boss, Erik ten Hag to bring him to Old Trafford.

The young lad is seen as one of the future of dutch football and Erik ten Hag was keen on convincing him to move along with him to Manchester United.

Dutch journalist, Marcel van der Kraan has revealed that Van Gaal, who was once shown the exit door by Manchester United, made it clear to the 21-year-old Ajax Star that he should stay at his current club for another season else he won’t take part in the World Cup to be held in Qatar later this year.

Timber’s representatives had held talks with United but a move was scuppered by Van Gaal’s threats.

“The player was ready, I think, to come,” Van der Kraan told Sky Sports.

“His agents went over to London to Manchester United’s offices two weeks ago and I think they had very good talks. Money was never a problem.

“But then one man turned up… Louis van Gaal. [He] told the player in the Dutch camp, ‘look, if you go there, I think your chances could be limited of playing for Holland in the World Cup, three months after the season starts’.

“For Jurrien Timber, a great Ajax-style player, a Ten Hag-style player, that was a bit of a blow,” he said.
