PSG to splash €90million on Romelu Lukaku
PSG could make a €90 million summer bid for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, according to reports.
After a club-record £97.5 million transfer from Inter Milan, the Belgian striker made a spectacular comeback to Stamford Bridge last August. However, the thrill of his homecoming has worn off, as the striker has been sidelined due to injuries and a lack of form.
To make matters worse, Romelu Lukaku recently caused controversy by professing his desire to play for the Nerazzurri again at San Siro.
Exit speculations have resurfaced, though Chelsea will be eager to repay their initial investment if they sell. PSG are hoping to take advantage of the situation and sign Romelu Lukaku this summer.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain, is willing to spend €90 million for Lukaku’s services, which is somewhat less than what Chelsea paid Inter last year.
The opportunity to play alongside Lionel Messi, Neymar, Angel Di Maria, and other superstars, though, may be too tempting to pass up.
If Kylian Mbappe were to join Real Madrid in the summer, which appears to be a certain conclusion at this point, the Belgian would immediately slide into PSG’s center-forward position.
Meanwhile, Chelsea has identified Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund as a potential successor, albeit the club will face stiff competition for his services.
On Saturday, Romelu Lukaku scored his eighth goal in 20 outings against Chesterfield in the FA Cup. He’s made a strong comeback from injury, and this was the Belgian’s third goal in his previous four games.
The 28-year-old is showing indications of regaining his form and, in time, may be able to help soothe some of the tensions between him and the club.
