Nkethia makes England appearance

Eddie Nketiah made his England debut at Wembley against Australia in October of 2023.

Gareth Southgate introduced him in 73rd minute in the Three Lions’ 1-0 friendly win Australia with Ollie Watkins scoring the only goal.

Since his appearance came in a friendly win, Eddie Nkethia is not cap tied to England yet. The forward has to make as many as three competitive appearances for England before he will no longer be able to switch allegiances to Ghana.

Eddie Nkethia still can’t decide where his international future lies

Nketiah spoke in a recent interview detailing how he is yet to decide on playing for Ghana at international level.

Not even the allure of playing at a World cup could temper his determination to make his mark with England.

Reports confirmed officials of the Ghana FA approached Eddie Nketiah and his family over making a switch ahead of the world cup. The 23-year-old declined the offer despite being eligible to play for Ghana through his parents.

He has spent time in international wilderness since that call up for England following a blistering start to the season. Since his appearances for Arsenal dried up, his chances of being called for England has reduced as well.

Nkethia needs move away from Arsenal next summer in order to increase his chances of an England NT call up.

Perhaps he has already decided to switch to Ghana as his bromance with Partey is being made out to be.
