Manchester City are set to prioritize the signing of a midfielder with Florian Wirtz and Lucas Paquetá high up the list.
Bayer Leverkusen CEO Carro commented on the possibility of Wirtz’ exit last week after the club clinched the Bundesliga title. He told AS:
“Florian Wirtz will stay with us next season. The plan is clear, together with his father. There’s interest from many clubs, we can’t plan too long in football but he’s staying.”

Carro went on to pay the highest compliment to Wirtz’ talents, insisting that “He could win the Ballon d’Or one day”.
The 20-year old’s stock has risen dramatically over the past three years, and peaked this season under Xabi Alonso.
He played a crucial role in Bayer’s title triumph, contributing 17 goals and 18 assists in all competitions. Wirtz has proven to be such a reliable player at a very young age in recent seasons. It is therefore understandable why the CEO thinks he could be a Ballon d’or winner in the future.
He told reporters that only offers of around €150 million will suffice for talks to be opened with potential suitors.
Fernando Carro has now updated his comments, insisting Manchester City transfer target, Florian Wirtz, has no price tag.
He told sports studio:
“I made a mistake when I said there’s a price tag for Florian Wirtz around €150m. In fact, he has NO price tag for us.”

Wirtz is one of Pep Guardiola’s targets to bolster his midfield as he looks for the next Kevin Debruyne.
They are also considering a record breaking move for Lucas Paquetá who has since revealed he doesn’t mind remaining at Westham.
Wirtz however is high up the list despite Bayer’s CEO handing City a huge blow with regards to any transfer.
