Fast forward to 2023, Johnny Evans is back at Manchester United. Signing a year long deal. He has become an instant impact at Old Trafford.

“We decided to buy (Aymeric, from Athletic Club 2018) Laporte . We spoke to him (Evans, who played at West Bromwich at the time) and we were close, but we couldn’t get the deal done,” revealed Guardiola.

“Maybe it had to do with agents. And the age, Laporte was younger.

“It wasn’t a bad decision.”
