Barcelona are getting the best of their opponents with their new found tactics, Xaviball.

The Culers had a not too impressive season during the first spell of Xavi Hernandez. Failing to win a trophy and dropping to the UEFA Europa League.

Barcelona have now found their lost touch and have grown incredibly this season. Activating the youthfulness of the team squad and solidifying their teamwork.

The tactics makes the team dominates the ball, possess and difficult for oppositions to win the ball. It keeps one part of the wing open, making it easy for the midfielders to operate in, while the opposition team is trying to cover up the lone winger in the other wing during an attack.

It was easy to use this tactics to give Real Madrid a treat of unbelievable play during the El Clasico Spanish Super Cup final. Barcelona held won the midfield and made Ousmane Dembele a target winger for Real Madrid in the right flank while Pedri and Gavi dominate the other flank. Most Barcelona chances and all 3 goals were from the left flank without a winger.

A typical example of Xaviball tactics is Lionel Scanoli’s Argentina team at the 2022 World Cup knockout stages. At the final, Argentina featured only Angel Di Maria in the right flank, giving room for Enzo Fernandes and Alexis Mac Allister to operate in the left flank.
